Once upon a time. . .

the World Wide Web contained a myriad of unique and fascinating little universes to discover and explore, each built and maintained by its own autonomous webmaster or webmistress. Many of these realms were grouped into spontaneous constellations known as webrings which connected together sites of similar subject matter making them much easier to find in the days before the search engine spiders crawled the Web. . .before the spider masters had learned to monetize or marginalize all the things their spiders found. And there was color and depth and vitality!

By the late 2000's, many of these worlds were gone. . .

Arkm's World was created in the early days of the first "Internet Renaissance" -- a quiet movement to revive and restore the personality, creativity, community, freedom of expression, and exploratory nature of this original Web.

The first few pages of Arkm's World went live at neocities.org on Saturday July 26, 2014. In the beginning months, it was hammered out on an old 1024x768 Windows XP machine. By May of the following year I was typing on a Dell Inspiron 5749, 17" laptop with 1600x900 screen resolution, running Windows 8.1 -- my first personal computer! It was a great machine and served me well until July 2022. The computer I am using today was bought at that time, a Dell Inspiron 16 5620, 16" laptop with 1920x1200 screen resolution, running Windows 11.

May this site last until the lands that lie under the wave are lifted up again.
